The Business Innovation and Investment - provisional / subclass 188 is a state nominated provisional visa which is valid for four years. It is a pathway to permanent residency, through the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa.


Features

This visa is only available to business migrants who:

  • hold a Business investor (Provisional) (subclass 165) visa;
  • have an overall successful record of business or investment activities; and
  • have significant net assets to invest in a designated investment in Queensland Treasury Corporation.

This visa allows you to stay in Queensland on a permanent basis if you have a genuine commitment to maintain your business and investment activity.

General Requirements

You must be nominated by a state or territory government to be eligible for this visa.

To obtain Queensland state nomination for this visa, you must demonstrate that you have fulfilled the requirements of your State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) (subclass 165) visa.

To be eligible for Queensland state nomination, you must:

  • provide evidence of residency in Queensland during the two year period immediately prior to your application for this visa
  • provide proof that you have maintained an investment in the Queensland Treasury Corporation for a minimum of 3 years and 9 months immediately before applying
  • demonstrate a genuine ongoing commitment to live and work in Queensland
  • meet the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) criteria for State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Residence) visa subclass 893 as detailed in booklet 7.

Timeframe for Nomination

Two weeks once Business and Skilled Migration Queensland has received your application and supporting documents.
