Victorian Skilled Visa Nomination Program Opened

The full 2020-21 Victorian skilled visa nomination program (subclass 190 and 491) opened on Tuesday 5 January, 2021. Like the interim program, the full program responds to challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, with a focus on Victoria’s health response or economic recovery.

Registration of Interest for Victorian Visa Nomination

 

To be considered for selection to apply for Victorian visa nomination, you must submit a Registration of Interest for Victorian Visa Nomination.

Please note that a valid and up to date Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted on the Department of Home Affairs’ SkillSelect website is a prerequisite for submitting a Registration of Interest.

You must register your interest on Live in Melbourne and be selected to apply for Victorian visa nomination.

You must also ensure you meet the relevant visa nomination eligibility criteria before submitting a Registration of Interest.

International student graduates and PhD applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are also encouraged to apply.

Applicants with a track record of commercialising innovative ideas and bringing them to market will also be highly regarded.

If you have already submitted a Registration of Interest (ROI) during the interim program, you do not need to submit another ROI. Your existing ROI will still be considered.

 

 

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

 

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa allows you to continue living and working in regional Victoria for 5 years.

If you are granted a subclass 491 visa, you may be eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191) which provides permanent residence and the right to live anywhere in Victoria if you meet the eligibility requirements. 

 

Selection to apply for Victorian visa nomination (subclass 491)

To be eligible to be considered for selection to apply for subclass 491 Victorian visa nomination, you must:

  1. already be living in regional Victoria
  2. already be working in regional Victoria (minimum 3 months employment)
  3. work in a highly skilled occupation in health, medical research, life sciences, agri-food or digital sectors which supports Victoria's economic recovery or health response.

 

Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa

The Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa is a permanent residence visa for professionals already living and working in Victoria with skills that support Victoria’s economic recovery or health response.

 

Selection to apply for Victorian visa nomination (subclass 190)

 

To be eligible to be considered for selection to apply for subclass 190 Victorian visa nomination, you must:

  1. already be living in Victoria
  2. already be working in Victoria (minimum 6 months employment)
  3. work in a highly skilled occupation in health, medical research or life sciences which supports Victoria’s economic recovery or health response.

Applying for Victorian visa nomination

 

As places are limited and you will be competing against the best and brightest already living and working in Victoria, simply meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection. You will be asked to provide critical information about yourself and how you are contributing to Victoria’s economic recovery or health response when completing your Registration of Interest for Victorian Visa Nomination.

 

Selection to apply for Victorian visa nomination is not a guarantee of nomination. All applications will be thoroughly assessed to ensure each candidate’s skills and experience meet the needs of Victoria’s economic recovery or health response.

 

You must also meet the nomination criteria for the relevant visa:

  • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
