Training visa (subclass 407)

 

The subclass 407 is a unique type of temporary visa. It allows the holder to participate in workplace occupational training, field of practice and expertise, or personal development program aimed at facilitating training activities in Australia. The visa has a duration of up to four years. During and the holder has to complete workplace-based training activities during this timeframe.

 

Eligibility Requirement

All interested persons that intend to apply for the subclass 407 visa must meet the following requirements:

1. Be sponsored by a government approved temporary activities sponsor;
2. Be nominated by your sponsor to carry out occupational training in any of the three types of occupational training;
3. Must be at least 18 years old and above;
4. Must show good command of the English language;
5. Must show poof of health insurance during their stay in Australia;
6. No recorded criminal history;
7. No previous visa cancellation or refusal.

 

Application process

The application process for the subclass 491 visa can be broken down into six different steps as explained below –

1. The applicant’s sponsor must submit a nomination application for the applicant.
2. Once nominated, the applicant will receive a formal invitation to submit a visa application.
3. Upon invitation, the applicant prepares the relevant documents and proceeds with the application within 60 days of the invite.
4. Lodgement of the application online.
5. Department of Home Affairs reviews and processes the application.
6. Once the application is approved, the visa grant notice will be sent to the applicant including the visa grant number, commencement date of the visa as well as visa conditions where applicable. If the application is rejected, the applicant will also be notified with reasons for the refusal and also where there is a possibility of reconsidering the visa application, the applicant will be notified. The visa application fee is non – refundable.
