Global Talent Visa Program: Queensland benefits from the program

The Global Talent Visa Program, also known as the Global Talent Independent Program, is a streamlined visa pathway created by the Australian government as an avenue for highly skilled professionals with outstanding talent to live and work permanently in Australia.

It is aimed at improving the Australian tech and innovation economies by sourcing for intellectually sound individuals with experience and skill in one of the following target sectors –

  • FinTech
  • Energy and Mining Technology
  • MedTech
  • Cyber Security
  • Quantum Information, Advanced Digital, Data Science and ICT

  • have a recognised organisation or individual in Australia nominate them as global talent, in the same field as the applicant

Candidates must meet a high standard and show an exceptional track record of professional achievement. This may include senior roles, patents, professional awards and international publications and memberships.

Places are also available to Masters and PhD students who can demonstrate their exceptional talent and international recognition across the target sectors.

Global Talent Visa Success Story

Recently, Will Banks became the first European migrant to move into Australia through the Global Talent Visa Program under the Fintech sector and obtained his permanent residence status within 3 weeks time frame.

Mr. Banks has been able to acquire a wealth of knowledge in entrepreneurship and banking in the UK and he applied this knowledge towards the formation of Queensland based neo bank ‘Infinity’. Mr Bank and his team of fintech experts are building the first ever “product disruptive bank” in Queensland, Australia. This is an innovative approach which will change the method of banking in Australia and across the country.

Some of the important products and customer incentives being prepared by Mr Banks include giving rate discounts as rewards to customers who have a high credit score with the bank. There are also financial products that are future – focused and one of them is the Buy-Now-Pay-Later service which is fully integrated and known as the “Delay Pay”.

As a recipient of the Global Talent Visa Program, Mr Banks has been able to utilize the friendly business work environment created by Queensland to establish his business. At the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), he was appointed the Executive Advisor where he serves as a mentor to Executive MBA students. He has been able to share his wealth of knowledge at the Griffith University where he works at the Department of Business Strategy and Innovation as an expert in Residence.

The Global Talent Visa Program has been adjudged to be very efficient and advantageous to both the applicant and the Australian economy. On the part of the applicant, the benefits attached will see the person earning within the high income threshold. The program allows the applicants to quickly process permanent residence as well as settle anywhere in the country. Also, one important advantage of the program is that there is no age restriction.

For Queenslanders, the Global Talent Visa Program will open up new employment opportunities in the coming years and also bring growth and development to the region and Australia at large.

Are you a skilled worker with talent, skill and relevant experience in any of the 7 sectors listed above? Then the Global Talent Visa Program is just for you! The application process can be quite rigorous and demands attention and proper expertise. It also takes time and some application fees. In the event your application gets refused, the application fee will not be refunded. This can be frustrating and something that you definitely don’t want to do twice.
