Business & Investment Visas | Move to Queensland

 

The Queensland Government welcomes successful business investors who wish to invest and live in Queensland, Australia.

Nominations for business migrants are available through Australia’s Business Innovation and Investment Program. In Queensland, this is administered by Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ).

 

VISA TYPES FOR BUSINESS MIGRANTS

Business and Skilled Migration Queensland can nominate applicants for the following visas:

Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) visa

This is a provisional visa that is a pathway to permanent residency. There are 4 streams to the provisional visa (subclass 188):

  • Innovation stream — for people who want to own and manage a new or existing business in Queensland
  • Investor stream — for people who make a designated investment in Queensland Treasury Corporation bonds. (QTC is the State of Queensland’s corporate treasury services provider. Queensland Bonds are guaranteed by the Queensland Government, both for the payment of interest and the repayment of principle on maturity.)
  • Significant Investor stream — for people who are willing to invest at least AUD$5 million into an SIV-compliant fund.
  • Entrepreneur stream — for people who have an innovative business ready to be commercialised.

(Permanent residency is available via the visa subclass 888.)

 

Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa

The Business Talent visa is made up of 2 streams:

  • Significant Business History stream (Affluent owners or part-owners of a business who want to have a major management role in a new or existing business in Queensland are eligible for permanent residency.)
  • Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream
