With the Commonwealth Games fast approaching, the Australian Government is urging athletes and tourists alike to be conscious of their visa cut-off dates as there will be no lenience for those attending or participating in the games. This is due to the reported spikes in people overstaying their visas following the 2000 Olympics and 2006 Commonwealth Games. The Government is trying to maintain a strict border security for these games and is therefore putting out a fair warning to all travellers, to ensure that we don’t experience a repeat of the previous games.
